Lottery Registration Process

In order to secure a lottery number for this year’s drawing, all three of the following steps must be completed prior to the close of the lottery registration process – January 25, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. [All times listed are Eastern Standard Time (EST).]
1. An online registration form must be completed and successfully submitted which will generate a confirmation email.
2. A signature and verification form must be completed and submitted in conjunction with (#3 immediately below).
3. “Proof of Residency” documents which verify residence in a GCPS attendance zone must be submitted. (Examples appear on the form in #2 above.)
Note that the documents required in steps 2 & 3 must be submitted together in order to be processed. Documents may be mailed or delivered in person to GSMST / 970 McElvaney Lane / Lawrenceville, GA 30044 / Attention: Ms. Vickers. Documents may be faxed to 678-518-6633. Also note that multiple submissions for the same child will render all submissions null and void. Submit one time only!

Lottery Registration Timeline

A. Online form goes live – November 1, 2018 at 8:00 a.m.
B. Parent Information Night in GSMST cafeteria – November 15, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
C. Parent Information Night in GSMST cafeteria – December 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
D. Parent Information Night in GSMST cafeteria – January 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.
E. Lottery registration process closes – January 25, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
F. Lottery drawing in Board Room at the GCPS Instructional Support Center – February 4, 2019 at 7:30 a.m.

Lottery Registration Acknowledgements

By clicking on the link below to proceed to the lottery registration form, I acknowledge that:

  • My child has custodial residency within Gwinnett County (but outside the city limits of Buford), Georgia.
  • My child is currently in 8th grade and is expected to be promoted to 9th grade by June 1, 2019.
  • My child is currently enrolled in a math curriculum that is considered the equivalent of high school Accelerated Algebra or higher.
  • I understand that if my child is taking (non-Accelerated) Algebra this year, their lottery number will remain valid only if they earn a first semester grade of 90 or higher and they score in the distinguished category on the End-of-Course Test (in May 2019) –OR– they earn a score of 550 or higher on the math component of the PSAT 8/9 or SAT. (The test must be taken prior to the lottery drawing.)
  • My child will attend the required Summer STEM Experience (June 10-13, 2019) in full, if we accept an enrollment spot.
  • We, the applicant and parent/guardian, hereby request that all school data in support of my application be released to GSMST.
  • All information provided as part of this entire, 3-step, lottery registration process is true and accurate.
