Summer Internship Opportunities

Internships listed on this page are intended for GSMST students. Many of them have been coordinated for our school's students only.
Summer internship opportunities will be posted as information comes in to the school. Only opportunities that are true internships and satisfy the summer JFE requirements will be posted here. HP Summer Internships
Multiple managers at the Hewlett Packard office in Alpharetta, GA are looking to hire paid summer interns. The office address is: 5555 Windward Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30004. These internships can turn into yearlong opportunities and/or potential jobs during college. You MUST have transportation to Alpharetta during the summer. There are bus routes, so you may want to research that.
The types of jobs/skills they’re looking for include:
- Mobile app development
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
- Programming language skills; coding
- IT skills
- Soft skills, including clear communication, organization, and leadership

Summer Internships with NCR

TAG-Ed Summer Internship Program
Attention rising Juniors, Seniors, and soon-to-be Grads: the Technology Association of Georgia's Education Collaborative holds a summer internship program each year. This program provides students interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers with real-life work experiences at established technology companies. Applicants are screened for aptitude in STEM subjects and the ability to handle a professional setting. They are then partnered with area companies who provide a valuable learning experience for each of the students.
Program Highlights:
- The application opens on January 21, 2013
- Students work a minimum of five weeks between June 3 and August 5, 2013 - students must be 16 years old on or before June 3 to participate.
- Students are paid a $1,000 stipend
- Students and companies are matched based on interest and education experience

The internship matching process begins in late March, therefore, make sure your application is completed by February 28, 2013.
**For rising JUNIORS, this program counts as a JFE. All students - if you apply for the program, please send Mrs. McAuliffe an email letting her know you've completed your application. She wants to know who's applied so that she can follow-up on your behalf.**
JFE Summer School
10th grade students who are interested in doing their Junior Fellowship Experience over the summer will need to participate in the JFE Summer School class. In order to obtain a summer internship, students will need to apply and be accepted into a summer program that meets the JFE requirements OR obtain a summer internship on their own. All summer internships must be approved by Mrs. McAuliffe (Molly_McAuliffe@gwinnett.k12.ga.us). Once an internship has been obtained and approved by Mrs. McAuliffe, students will be added to the summer school roster.
When seeking out summer internship opportunities, please keep in mind the following requirements. In order for an experience to count as a JFE,
- the program/internship must last at least 5 weeks
- students must work on-site for a minimum of 20 hours per week
All student who wish to receive JFE summer credit must attend class at GSMST on the summer school dates from 8 AM - 1 PM. The rest of the JFE work will be done remotely. The tentative summer school dates for 2013 are:
- Wednesday, May 29, Thursday, May 30, and Friday, May 31, 2013
- Thursday, July 25, Friday, July 26, Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, 2013
