College Application Information
TEST PREP for College Entrance Tests!
The Gwinnett County Public Library system has three databases that will provide students with free assistance in preparing for the college entrance tests - Learning Express Library, RBdigital Test Prep, and Learn4Life. As you know, classes offered elsewhere can often cost a few hundred dollars.
The Hamilton Mill Branch will offer two information sessions in November to parents and students about how to use these databases. Right now they are the only branch offering formal sessions but anyone interested in learning more can go to any branch to receive assistance.
SAT, ACT, and SAT/ACT Combo Practice Tests!
If you took one of the Mock tests on Saturday, October 19th, please remember to attend the Score Report Information Session on October 29th at 6:30PM. An expert from Applerouth will be here to explain the reports and give an overview of college admissions. Mrs. Scheid will also be giving the general process that GSMST follows to prepare students for college admissions.

2013 Senior Parent Night
The powerpoint from the evening is here! I tried to include the details that I talked about, so the slides have more information on them than seen that evening. As always, if you have questions please email me. I can respond via email much easier than telephone (because I can do email in the evenings). Thank you for letting us work with your students!
FERPA and Electronic Transcript Authorization
In order to process your transcript requests electronically, we must have a written authorization form on file or complete the Common App FERPA.
The electronic transcripts will be used for the Common Application and other colleges that accept electronic applications. If you have any questions, please contact Meg Scheid at email@example.com or 678-518-6695.
If the colleges you are applying to require the Common Application (www.commonapp.org), please confirm the early deadlines for those colleges. Many of the colleges and universities have extended their early deadlines due to the Common App's technical difficulties. IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP TRACK OF THESE DEADLINES. Counselors receive some of the emails from colleges, but not all of them. Please read the extensions carefully. Some of them extend the student application, while others are only extending the school portion.
For ANY COLLEGE APPLICATION, it is imperative that the student submit his/her portion of the application BY THE DEADLINE. Do not wait until you see the teacher recommendations submitted or other materials from the school submitted. Teacher and counselor information will be submitted separately and may not always follow the same deadlines.
