GAGE Consortium Information
Course selection for next years rising 10th -12th graders will begin on February 20, 2013. Course selections forms can be found below. Please be having conversations with your student about the courses they are interested in taking next year prior to February 20th.
Course Selection
9th Grade Program of Study
6 Required Courses and 1 Elective
* SCIENCE
Science = Students are required to take 2 courses
- Physics/Engineering: A project based learning environment that integrates the physics and engineering concepts into projects that students will often create, design and construct through the collection and analysis of data to measure outcomes, predict outcomes and confirm outcomes. This relevant level of integration supports students in learning the content at a much deeper level of rigor balanced with the appropriate amount of support. This is a yearlong course and students will receive one Unit for each course.

- Advanced Chemistry - Year Long - 1 unit
* MATH
Our Math class is accelerated - regardless of the course students took in 8th grade. If students were in anything less than Algebra I - please consider getting them math support over the summer so they can learn key concepts they will need to know to be successful in Accelerated Algebra Common Core.
Mathematics = 1 course, Students will be placed in one of the following based on previous years success and a test given during Summer STEM experience
- Accelerated Algebra Common Core - Year Long - 1 Unit
- Accelerated Geometry Common Core - Year Long - 1 Unit
- Accelerated Geometry Common Core - 1 Semester - 1 Unit / and Accelerated Pre Calculus - 1 Semester - 1 Unit
(This option is the most advanced and students will be getting two years of math credit in one year) - Mathematics Sequence Chart
* HUMANITIES
Humanities I = 1 course
- 9th Grade Language Arts integrated with World Cultures -Year Long – 1Unit
*FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Foreign Language: 1 course, choose 1 of the following
(2 years of the same foreign language is required)
- Spanish I – Year Long – 1 Unit
- Spanish II – Year Long – 1 Unit
- Chinese I – Year Long – 1 Unit
- German I - Year Long - 1 Unit
