Principal's Message

August 10, 2017

Hello GSMST Community!

The 2017-18 school year has gotten off to a great start.  Earlier this week GSMST was named the 10th best public high school in the nation by Town and County magazine and today we are recognizing our 72 National AP Scholars from 2017 – our highest number ever in one year.  We have twelve new faculty members who have joined our teaching and research faculty this year, including two (Mrs. Waters and Mrs. Robbins) who are returning to GSMST from brief stints at other schools.

The GSMST Class of 2017 included 186 graduates (out of 186 total seniors) and we hope the Class of 2018 maintains that 100% graduation rate.  Our first week enrollment exceeds 1040 total students and we continue to grow in quality and quantity.

GSMST continues to serve as a lab school for instructional innovation across all of GCPS as we support students in our high performance STEM culture.  Our 1 to 1 laptop initiative, blended and hybrid class instruction, and a marquee internship program are just some of the creative, innovative, and transformational opportunities that make up the GSMST experience.

We welcome and look forward to seeing all families on Thursday night (8/31) for Open House where parents will get a chance to follow their child’s schedule and meet each teacher along the way.  Open House begins at 7:00 p.m.  Printed copies of student schedules will be available in the lower level atrium beginning at 6:00 p.m.
